It was 'only rock and roll' at the Rolling Stones' sold-out Camping World Stadium show (and we liked it)

Rock & roll was alive and well at Camping World Stadium last night after the Rolling Stones performed to a sold-out crowd for a little over two hours.

The iconic British rock band reintroduced themselves to Florida fans with their Hackney Diamonds Tour, after an absence of far too long.

Composed of long-standing members Jagger and twin guitarists Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, the Stones drew a melting pot of an audience that consisted of fans born before and after the band started up in 1962. The youngest audience member we saw was 3 years old and wearing headphones to protect his young ears.

With a sold-out stadium full of rabid fans, there were destined to be a few celebrity attendees. Jagger shouted out golfer Tiger Woods, *NSYNC’s Joey Fatone and even Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis [Update: In response to Jagger's onstage shout-out  And Ron DeSantis is up there in the suite. He's having a date night with Mickey Mouse. I'm so glad they finally made up" — a spokesperson for the governor says he was not actually at the show. Nor on a date with Mickey Mouse], all present in the audience.

The rest of the audience had to be one of the rowdiest live crowds that we've seen. Fans were dressed head-to-toe in the band's bright red lips-and-tongue logo — one fan was even wearing pants that were fully covered in the iconic mouth. The crowd was just as loud as their outfits. A 74-year-old jumped out of their seat and around the floor, and an 8-year-old danced with their parents. Everyone was there to have a good time — and they did.

Jagger probably logged a few miles, with the way he was jogging across the stage from side to side and front to back. Both Richards and Wood managed to keep wide grins throughout the entire show, each audience interaction making their smiles grow a little wider. The trio left it all on the floor and then some, putting much younger musicians to shame.

The show featured 17 of the band’s best-known songs — including "Start Me Up," "Gimme Shelter" and "Paint It Black" — plus an encore of “Sweet Sounds of Heaven” and “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction. Fans had the opportunity to vote on songs to be featured in the set during the months leading up to the concert, including the two encores.

Adding to the mix of legendary rock music, the Rolling Stones brought out American singer-songwriter (and opening act) Timothy Tyler Childers. They joined forces to play “Dead Flowers” together, sending a wave of cheers throughout the stadium.

Accompanying each song were captivating and colorful visuals that played on the screens behind the band. The visuals for “Sympathy for the Devil” portrayed a hellish scene of red pillars and slithering snakes, while the “Paint it Black” visuals were strictly black and white.

As an old soul and a ’70s rock lover, this writer never imagined that I’d be able to see the Rolling Stones live in my lifetime (I’m only 22 years old). And yet, they there were, live and loud and, for a few hours, untouched by time.
