Historic 'Plymouthonian' home by storybook-style architect Sam Stoltz is now for sale in Orlando area

A rare Florida storybook-style home by a renowned area architect is now for sale just outside Orlando.

The home, located at 30801 Ridgeview Ave. in Sorrento, was built in 1929 and has been dubbed the "Plymouthonian."

The home's architect, Sam Stoltz, is responsible for several distinctive Florida homes and buildings constructed between the 1920s and 1930s. Although he had no formal architectural training, Stoltz's creations remain some of the most notable pieces of history in the area, including the Dubsdread Golf Course Clubhouse.

He worked and lived primarily in Winter Park in his later years, and focused heavily on creating Tudor-style homes near Mount Plymouth, which he called his "Plymouthonians." Also an artist, Stoltz contributed paintings and murals (often depicting Florida birds) to local businesses, two of which can be seen today at the College Park Community Center.

The home, containing Stoltz's signature bird decorations, has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus a separate one-bedroom, one-bathroom suite above the garage, once used as staff quarters.

Notable features include a 45-foot chimney, stone and wood floors, a stone fireplace, gothic archways and artistic details throughout. The property also comes with a workshop and pole barn.
