Historic Mount Dora home designed by renowned Winter Park architect James Gamble Rogers II is now for sale

A historic home with a rich architectural history is on the market in Mount Dora.

The residence, located at 1414 Sylvan Drive, was built in 1953 and designed by renowned Winter Park architect James Gamble Rogers II.

Rogers, the nephew and namesake of one of the architects who designed Yale University, James Gamble Rogers, is responsible for some of the most notable buildings in the Orlando area. Largely known for his residential work in Winter Park, Rogers' work includes Winter Park's "Casa Feliz" Spanish farmhouse, the Greeneda Court shops on Park Avenue and Rollins College's Olin Library.

Rogers also played a part in the design of the Florida Supreme Court building as well as buildings at Stetson University and Florida State University. He led the Associated University Architects, which developed the University of Central Florida.

The Mount Dora home was modeled after the historic Beauregard-Keyes House in New Orleans' French Quarter.

The Mount Dora home comes with five bedrooms and five baths across 6,356 square feet, all perched on a 1.3-acre lakefront lot. Some amenities include the library and temperature-controlled, hidden wine cellar with room for more than 1,000 wine bottles.

The home is currently listed for $2,750,000 and the listing agents are Harif Hazera and Adam Shuler with Premier Sotheby's International Realty.
