Curry Ford West staple and community-favorite market Clemons Produce will close at the end of August after more than five decades in business.
Clemons’ social media dropped the bombshell news on Wednesday: “THANK YOU to all the customers who have supported us over the decades! Clemons Produce will be closing permanently August 31. 25% off all produce & grocery items excluding bakery (bagels ,banana bread & sliced bread). EVERYTHING MUST GO! Fixtures, shelving, coolers, freezers, sinks, and all equipment! Speak with management about these items.”
Clemons has been serving Orlando since 1970, providing all manner of fresh fruits and vegetables, pickled veggies aplenty (and occasionally pickled bologna), honey and apple butter, spices and condiments, baked goods, nuts, and an Amish deli with a vide variety of meats and cheeses. It’s been a local destination for a long time. (Full disclosure: This writer has been sneaking references to Clemons into stories happily since 2020 and is very saddened by this news.)
The shopping center building that houses Clemons, Charlie’s Bakery, Band Room, Living Dead Comics and the other businesses at Dover Shores recently changed ownership. Neighboring business Living Dead Comics announced a couple of months ago that they were moving out of the shopping center.
To get in your last visits, Clemons is open seven days a week as of this writing: 8:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Monday-Friday; 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Saturday; 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.
