When burglars strike, damages and loss of property are bad enough. But sometimes salt gets tossed in the wound.
Take, for example, whoever burglarized the Devereux Clinic on Westgate Drive in Orlando on April 7. When employee Sandra Green came in for work the next morning, she noticed the door was ajar and all of the lights were on. There were no signs of forced entry, and in the police report Green noted that if the door isn’t firmly shut when locked for the night, it just pops back open.
It was obvious that the suspect snacked throughout the execution of the crime, and there was evidence that candy, Doritos and half a two-liter bottle of Coke were consumed. Some speakers were removed from an office but left at the scene. The biggest score was a Canon digital camera worth about $250, which was stolen from a desk drawer.
There was also an empty coin can found in the bathroom. About $1 was taken. It was there that Green discovered the burglar didn’t just take stuff; stuff was left, too. Green’s first indication was described in the report as a “foul smell,” followed by the revelation that the burglar was nonchalant enough to take a dump so large it flooded a toilet.
