Rotation

"There was something that kept me shouting as I gunned my hatchback into the gut of the beast – Bushwick, Brooklyn:  Bob Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited. We had a show later that night at Pianos, and it was the middle of tour. As I snuck up on the colloidal casualness of Brooklyn-via-Queens, it all made sense: 'Just throw it all down on Highway 61.' Rock & Roll was back in fashion. It was a celebration up in Bushwick, all my friends now living in the same neighborhood. I listened as Dylan groaned out the voice of an entire sect of people I saw stuck in transit. I watched a bunch of kids bump around the same city that Dylan knew too well, and I was awoken. I felt something I'd rarely felt my whole life: I wasn't alone. All my friends had become rolling stones on this vast highway. 'How does it feel / to be on your own / with no direction home / like a complete unknown?' Revisiting Highway 61 on tour kept me running. Oddly, it made me feel visible."
