7 p.m. at Regal Winter Park - Project Nim (4 Stars) A story both infuriating and complex as revealed by director James Marsh, who won an Oscar for his last film, the brilliant Man On Wire, employs real footage and reenactments to tell the story of Nim Chimpsky, a chimpanzee commandeered by a group of Columbia University hippies - led by psychologist Herbert Terrace, the villain of the story - and raised from birth as if he were a human to see if he could master human language. Emotional manipulation, sexual exploitation and several maimings are the result of what can only be described as a science horror film; as inhumanely as people with all manner of agenda treat Nim, the biggest victim is science, which is demonized by the proudly ignorant purveyors of the experiment. Marsh, however, presents the information even-handedly. -JS
