PR’s Taco Palace College Park pushes open date to July

Plus three new places to drink beer and a new teashop

Strike any notion of a mid-May opening for the College Park PR’s Taco Palace. According to owner Perry Inman, the taquería will now open in July.

Brunch fans lamenting the closure of Bananas Modern American Diner on Mills Avenue can still catch the popular gospel brunch at the Funky Monkey in Pointe Orlando, Sundays at noon. Back in Mills 50, though, Bananas is being replaced by the Mills Brewpub and Eatery, which will feature craft beers, burgers, Belgian fries and the like. Look for it to open sometime in July as well.

In other brew pub news: BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse has opened on the corner of Sand Lake Road and I-Drive; the Burger & Beer Joint has moved into the former Culpepper’s space on University Boulevard; and work continues on the Orange Blossom Pilsner brew pub on Virginia Drive, slated to open this summer.

The newly opened Carmel Café & Wine Bar in Altamonte Springs is staging a Charity Night in support of Habitat for Humanity. For $45 per person, guests can enjoy dishes from Carmel’s menu, along with specialty cocktails and samplings from their wine list. All proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity of Seminole County and Greater Apopka. Visit habitatseminoleapopka.org for tickets.

Growing Synergy and Norman’s Orlando are teaming up to present Spring Brunch in the Pasture, a farm-to-table brunch on the grounds of the Lake Meadow Naturals farm in Ocoee. The event goes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, May 18, and tickets are a relative steal for $25. Visit growingsynergy.com to purchase. (This could be the perfect belated Mother’s Day event for you lackadaisical kids.)

BRIEFLY:

Café 906 opens May 17 in Baldwin Park … The Crepevine opens later next month in the Village Shoppes at Altamonte … Look for Tea and Tea (yes, it’s a teashop) to open in the former Déjà Vu Creperie space in Winter Park Village.
