Frank & Steins comes to Winter Park; Funky Buddha comes to Central Florida

More good news: Scratch Tapas now serving lunch and a second Yellow Dog Eats coming soon

The old Shipyard Brewing/Strollo’s Cucina Due space has sat empty for nearly a year, but word comes that Frank & Stein’s – you may have frequented their beer pub downtown – will move into 200 W. Fairbanks Ave. sometime in late August. They’re currently gathering the necessary permits and hope to start buildout in the next three to four weeks.

Yellow Dog Eats, the popular Gotha eatery, will open a second location in New Smyrna Beach in the former Malony’s Oyster Bar space on Canal Street; target open date is mid-July.

Like Olea (see our review this week), Tampa-based Little Greek Restaurant promises fast-casual Med fare and is currently targeting an opening sometime in the fourth quarter of this year. The chainlet’s president was in town last week scouting locations.

It’s been four long years, but World Cup soccer, nay, football, nay, fútbol is back, and you can watch Michael Bradley and the rest of Team USA kick some balls at the Yard House. From June 12 through July 13, the I-Drive taproom will air every single match on numerous flatscreens and serve Brazilian-inspired cocktails in addition to their 100 beers on tap.

Speaking of beer, Funky Buddha, the largest brewery in South Florida, begins distributing their beer in Central Florida today. They tell us you’ll find their products, including an awesome maple-bacon-coffee porter, everywhere from Frank & Steins and Yard House to Redlight Redlight and Thirsty Topher.

BRIEFLY

The Green Day Café has moved down the road to the Shoppes at Lee Road (next door to the Volkswagen dealership) … Meltz, the short-lived sandwich joint in the Chase Plaza, has closed … Some good news to end on: Winter Park’s Scratch Tapas is now open for lunch 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
