Dead artists-themed costumed party for the exhibition collecting Marcel Duchamp, Keith Harring, Man Ray and more; exhibit through Dec. 13
If there were a train that could pick up passengers at RV’s warehouse on West Central and rattle over to downtown Eustis in Lake County, this Halloween adventure would be so cool. But since there isn’t, you’ll have to make the scary one-hour drive into black bear country to reach RV & His Dead Friends, set up in the town museum, on the fringe of the Ocala National Forest. And you know what that means. No? That’s where RV – Robin Van Arsdol – fills in the cracks with his own personal ties to the dead “guests” whose artwork he shares from his own collection, specifically the “American Surrealist William Copley’s SMS (Shit Must Stop) Collection of Multiples.” We’re talking pieces by Marcel Duchamp, Man Ray, Yoko Ono, Christo, Roy Lichtenstein, Meret Oppenheim and Princess Winifred, as well as works by RV’s living friends, martinis, wine and a dead-artist costume contest. (9 p.m. at Lake Eustis Museum of Art, 200 B E. Orange Ave., Eustis; $40; 352-483-2900; www.lakeeustismuseumofart.org) (Staff)
