Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra presents Haydn: Mad Scientist Far from being a mad-scientist type, Haydn was a kindly and paternal figure in the Austrian music community of the 18th century. But the freedom he enjoyed under the patronage of a wealthy family afforded him the opportunity to carry out "mad" musical experiments that, though they may sound conventionally appealing today, were radical for their time. This performance, with guest conductor Dirk Meyer, features excerpts from Haydn's "Farewell" symphony, "Symphony No. 49" and others. 7 pm Sunday; St. Luke's Lutheran Church and School, 2021 W. State Road 426, Oviedo; free; 407-365-3408; stlukes-oviedo.org/concert-series; 7 pm Monday; Margeson Theater, Lowndes Shakepeare Center, 812 E. Rollins St.; $21-$42; 407-770-0071; orlandophil.org.
