Think global, gift local: our 2013 holiday gift guide

RIYL (recommended if you like) gift ideas for everybody on your list

If they like Ed Hardy (no judgment), then check out Steadfast Brand and their tattoo-inspired designs. They started out in a little office on Alden Road in Ivanhoe Village and are now taking over neighboring warehouses like little tattooed termites. (Steadfast Brand, steadfastbrandclothing.com, $15-$20)

If they like Jesus in a cup, then buy them locally blessed and packaged vino from Celebration Communion Cups. As the website says, these sets “combine modern convenience and purity with a taste for tradition.” Mmm, sacreligious. (Celebration Communion Cups, celebrationcup.com, $4-$100)

If they like to pin photos of furniture to their Pinterest boards all day, then buy them something from Old Inc. in the East End Market. They’ve got oodles of locally made furniture and decor in their stall, but they also do custom work and rentals. (East End Market, 3201 Corrine Drive, theoldinc.com, $1-$2,000)

If they like Starbucks, then buy them some bags of locally roasted Lineage coffee beans. Better yet, go on a romantic locavore date to East End Market and have someone else make your java for you. (East End Market, 3201 Corrine Drive, lineageroasting.com, $14-$17)

If they like patchouli, then call their eco-bluff and buy them a worm condo from Our Vital Earth. You can use them to get rid of your table scraps and junk mail, but if you’re not into live wriggly things, then just go for the Worm Tea and give your plants some liquid loving. (Our Vital Earth, 800-237-4780, ourvitalearth.com, $4-$65)
