Sports and Rec Country

Despite all the sins inflicted by nature upon Central Floridians during the dog days of summer, all is forgiven with one stunningly comfortable fall day. You take a walk or ride your bike, and it feels good. But then there’s another gorgeous day, and another – you realize that you need to find more ways to exploit this sweat-free sunshine. We’re here to help. In this section you’ll find everything from co-ed competitive volleyball (at a nudist resort) to sailing races to classic car shows to Tai Chi workshops and much more.
The fall is also when the University of Central Florida’s football season gets underway, and though the UCF stadium is an underwhelming agglomeration of thin steel and advertising, the team’s rising prowess and the majesty of a game at sunset more than makes up for the uncomfortable bleachers. (And really, you’re not supposed to sit down at a college football game, anyway.) Finally, the fall is when the NBA season is supposed to begin, and when Orlando’s flagship sports franchise, the Magic, is set to live up to their suffocating expectations. Say goodbye to Dwight for us – we’ll be outside, enjoying the refreshingly breathable air.
