Slow Food Orlando's Eat Local Week – a celebration promoting "connection, community, culture and cuisine" – hopes to make locavores out of all of us yet. The weeklong fete, Nov. 9-17, should be a boon to the local food economy, with area farms, food vendors and restaurants taking part including Lake Meadow Naturals, Redlight Redlight, Big Wheel Provisions truck and the Rusty Spoon, to name but a few. Participating restaurants will serve prix fixe meals with ingredients sourced from within a 200-mile radius, and a host of events will take place at local farmers markets from Melbourne to Winter Park. The capper – the Winter Park Harvest Festival – celebrates autumn in Central Park with local artisanal food producers and vendors from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17. For more event info, visit eatlocalweek.com and winterparkharvestfestival.com.

Food has been paired with everything from tea to tequila, but the Glenfiddich scotch pairing at Fleming's Steakhouse is sure to warm a lot of hearts – and guts. Scallop salad, pork belly and beef tenderloin will be paired with 12-, 15- and 18-year-old single malt scotch; dessert is a creamy chocolate budino. Get scotched at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17. Price per guest is $95; more info: flemingssteakhouse.com.

On the heels of their South Florida expansion, the largest Spanish-owned restaurant chain in the world – 100 Montaditos – has opened in the Waterford Lakes Town Center. The fast-casual eatery offers assorted tapas, including jamón ibérico, plenty of manchego and – ¡ciertamente! – montadito sandwiches to the throngs of UCF students in search of a fast-food alternative.

News/openings:
Look for Burger 21 to open Nov. 12 in the Shoppes at Millenia … Red's Ranch, a Texas-style BBQ joint, has opened in MetroWest …
In a couple of years, Altamonte Springs will get a Whole Foods Market to go along with their Fresh Market … Eden's Fresh Co.'s third outpost is set to "open soon" at 500 E. Central Blvd. in Thornton Park … and n'oubliez pasBeaujolais Nouveau Day starts at 12:01 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15.
