"A Comic Book: Team Up"

Beloved local comics emporium gets in the game.

Orlando's wildly popular A Comic Shop has staked its turf by pumping the fundamentals: stuffing their shelves with the best names and series in comics, waging six-panel slash-and-burn on fans' free time. But growing in notoriety is the peripheral A Comic Book, owner Aaron Haaland and A Comic Shop's in-house publication.

For its third go-round, Haaland and company have collaborated with local artists and writers (including cover artist Austin James, whose image of hard-shelled hustle is pictured left), all of them taking an excursion into comics' percolating, mad-scientist basement to put out Team Up, their most impressive anthology yet. The new volume has already gone to press and hits A Comic Shop on Nov. 15, weighing in with 13 original stories, 21 contributors and 60 pages of graphic-y goodness for the low, low price of $3.99. It's like stopping by your good friend's garage for a bottle of their new homebrew, except you won't have to lie about that funky smell coming off the snifter.
